Teeth Whitening strips/trays are seemingly more and more popular today. The sales of these products is starting to compete with sales of teeth whitening toothpastes. While both of these products are relatively cheap (when compared with in-office treatments), the advantage is their availability for use in your own home and the ease of use.
Over-the-counter strips are specially formulated for use by the general public and can be found in nearly any drug store. They are composed of a flexible plastic material that can be stuck right to the surface of your teeth. Strips are designed to remain on the ‘smile teeth’ only, avoiding the difficulty of molding the strip to the hard to reach molars in the rear of the mouth.
Whitening strips are similar to whitening trays in that they allow you to wear the product for several hours per treatment. In fact, many strips are designed to be worn overnight, allowing the carbamide peroxide, the active whitening ingredient, time to work on the stains of your teeth. The peroxide of strips is typically half the strength of whitening trays which allows for the longer wearing time, and the frequency of allowed treatments.
