Important Considerations for Teeth Whitening

Friday, December 10th, 2010

Every person wants to have whiter and better-looking teeth. Unfortunately, this is something that is easier said than done. In fact, many people suffer from stained and discolored teeth primarily because many think that it is required to spend too much money just to have better looking white teeth. The truth is there are different methods on how a person can achieve a whiter set of munchers. True, the expensive in-clinic dental whitening procedures are available, but there are also the more affordable ones, namely home teeth whitening kits.

One home product that can do wonders for the teeth is baking soda. Baking soda is considered the cheapest teeth bleaching agent. A person can simply mix a little baking soda with a few drops of water and then rub it on surface of the teeth using his fingers or a toothbrush. Let it stay for a few minutes and then rinse it with water thoroughly.

If a person is not satisfied with the natural teeth whitening remedies, he can always opt for teeth bleaching kits that can be used at home. The good news is that these kits can be easily bought from a local pharmacy, from the grocery store or even from an online store.

If an individual suffers from this problem, then it is important to know that there are different ways to handle teeth discoloration and teeth stains. The easiest way to acquire a pearly white set of munchers is by going to a dental clinic and getting a dentist work on one’s set of teeth. Various dental whitening procedures can be done so a person can have a brighter and whiter smile after a few minutes or hours. This is, by far, the easiest and most convenient method because one does not have to do anything but simply sit on the dental chair and wait for the bleaching magic to happen. Of course, if a person goes to the dental clinic to get some cosmetic teeth whitening procedures done, there are expenses to consider.

If a person wants to have whiter teeth but cannot avail of the expensive cosmetic teeth whitening procedures from the dental clinic, he can purchase home teeth bleaching kits. These dental bleaching kits can be composed of different products and can work using different whitening methods. Some of the most common teeth bleaching products involve the use of dental trays, bleaching strips, teeth whitening gels and even dental whitening pens.

If one still does not want to purchase ready-made dental teeth whitening kits, then he can still have the option to go for the third method: home remedies. There are various home remedies which can serve as the alternative means to whiten a person’s teeth.

Everyone wants to have whiter teeth, but not everyone wants to spend extra money to achieve a beautiful smile. There are a number of home remedies available for whitening teeth that are found in your kitchen or medicine cabinet.

Swishing hydrogen peroxide can also whiten your teeth, although it does not taste very good. Take care not to swallow it. Rinse well when finished.

How Does Teeth Whitening Work?

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

With the growing popularity of teeth bleaching products on the market, more people are beginning to wonder if teeth bleaching is right for them. Questions are also arising about the safety of teeth bleaching,

Almost every teeth whitening product you can find uses the same kind of ingredient called carbamide peroxide. The difference is that companies will offer different strengths of the peroxide, and having too much could cause problems. Most people will want to make sure they stick with 10 % carbamide peroxide, especially if they have a tendency to tooth sensitivity.

The biggest problem you will face in the teeth bleaching process is that extra sensitivity to hot and cold liquids. And you might even feel some pain when you breathe in some cold air if you have used too much peroxide. The reason your teeth get sensitive in the bleaching process is that the chemicals make your teeth a little more porous, and these tiny holes allow air and liquids to have access to your nerves.

You can increase 4-5 shades of brightness based on how much whitener you use and for how long you use it. Using trays and peroxide, it can take up to 2 weeks to see four shades of whitening.

Practical but Effective Teeth Whitening Tips

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

There are so many kinds of teeth whitening products and systems available in the market today. A person can have different options as how he can approach tooth whitening.

A person who wishes to have whiter teeth must know more about the concept of teeth bleaching and teeth discoloration. Some factors that can influence this include the person’s age, eating habits, genetics, smoking, drinking habits as well as the person’s dental hygiene. Once a person has set a teeth whitening system to use, it is good to stick to that plan until the desired teeth color is met.

The first essential tip to achieve whiter teeth is to start avoiding food and drinks that can cause the teeth to become discolored. Some of the biggest causes of teeth discoloration and staining include the nicotine from cigarette, cola drinks, coffee as well as tea. It would be best if smoking and drinking dark beverages are stopped. If these things cannot be avoided, then the individual should learn how to rinse his mouth after every time he drinks colored drinks or smokes.

Another important element that can help a person have whiter teeth is water. Plain water can do much for a person who wants whiter teeth an, at the same time, prevent more teeth stains. It is important to drink plenty of water, not just after every meal, but also after every snack. If a person smokes, then he must ensure that he rinses his mouth with plain water after every smoking session. This does not only help get food particles out of the mouth but it can also rinse the mouth of colored liquids.

Side Effects of Teeth Whitening Products

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

A smile adds beauty to the personality but when you smile your teeth are displayed to all. Some people take very good care of their teeth and they bear any cost to get white teeth. But everyone cannot afford to visit dentist to have teeth whitening techniques, because they are very expensive. To provide solution to this problem, over the counter teeth whitening products are available in the market, although some are more effective than others.

Most brands of toothpaste publicize whitening ingredients. These toothpastes contain light abrasive material such as calcium carbonate or aluminum oxide that removes the debris from the teeth when applied and brings them to closer to their original look.

The product having more hydrogen peroxide amount is more effective but also more injurious to teeth having more side effects. Teeth Whitening products can cause serious damage to gums, saliva and tooth enamel and also weaken the texture of teeth. Teeth sensitivity to cold and hot is another side effect. Every teeth whitening product is not suitable for everyone.

Do Teeth Whiteners Really Work?

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Teeth whiteners are pretty much unavoidable these days. Everywhere you look you see a television commercial, a store display, a radio message or a print ad, constantly touting the benefits of the latest and greatest teeth whiteners to hit the market. They’re big business, to be sure, but do they actually work?

The cheapest teeth whiteners are the whitening toothpastes, which incorporate hydrogen peroxide and other chemicals in addition to the regular cleansers that you find in your toothpaste. These are more effective for maintaining the color of your teeth than they are for making them whiter, working mostly by removing dirt and debris.

The next step up in teeth whiteners is the strips that you put in your mouth, fitting over your teeth mostly invisibly while you go about your day, dissolving as you go. These are more effective than the toothpastes, but you shouldn’t really expect to see your teeth get whiter by more than a shade or two, and you need to try to curtail things that are going to keep staining them, like excessive coffee drinking.

The most effective kind generally available at your local store is going to be the leave in tray variety. Basically, you fill a molded tray with a bleaching solution and then leave it in for a set period to lighten your teeth. As you might imagine this is the most effective and expensive of the teeth whiteners you can get without going to the dentist. But they do work, and you can get several shades whiter with these treatments.

Dental Veneers or Teeth Whitening?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

Dental veneers are custom made shells made from tooth colored materials that facilitate covering the front surface of the tooth; these are also known as porcelain veneers or porcelain laminates. These wafer thin shells are stuck to the front of the teeth thereby changing their color, shape, size or length and resulting in an improved appearance. The objective of this procedure is either to protect the damaged tooth or improvement of the tooth aesthetics.

If you have teeth that are discolored mildly it is possible to get a white smile with Teeth whitening process. Cosmetic dentists as far as possible will advise people to use simpler teeth whitening process combined with simple orthodontic alignment instead of veneers. The veneers placement warrants the shaping and preparing all teeth in order to fit custom-designed shells. You must realize that this process will completely alter your teeth structure; hence, it is not necessary to have this treatment if you find that your natural teeth are functioning properly and also aesthetically acceptable.

If your teeth have minor chips or cracks it is better to restore them effectively with the process of bonding because this is the least expensive process. Repairing such minor problems by using composite white filling ensures that your teeth are functional and cosmetically appealing. You can bond a composite resin material for repairing the crack or chip in your tooth thereby protecting the structure of the surrounding teeth.
