Just Smile Bright with Teeth Whitening

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Smiling is free but when the teeth get to a certain point people start to become self conscious and then stop to smile freely and this is such a shame because smiling has a real positive impact on your life and well being.

Teeth get stained after years of things like smoking, drinking tea and coffee and even cola will eventually darken the teeth as the staining will get in to the porous micro ducts of the enamel and will slowly change the color over a period of time. As long as the staining has not penetrated the dentin then the teeth should whiten to a decent level and noticeable difference. The time the enamel is compromised is when there is years of heavy smoking and drinking tea as examples and will also depend on the enamel being overly porous as it cannot defend itself against the staining but luckily this happens very infrequently.

The type of whitening you select will depend on budget and how much effort you want to put in to whitening. One of the most important things to think about after having the teeth whitened is to keep it up and think of it as an ongoing activity. Like most things in our lives nothing lasts forever so re-whitening is something you need to consider whether that is regular usage of a home kit or pen or having the teeth re-whitened with the laser every 12 months just keep it going.

All About Teeth Whitening Kits

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Professional dental treatment to whiten teeth can cost more than a thousand dollars. While professional teeth whitening can produce the best results, other options are also available. There are over-the-counter kits that can give great results but do not cost a fortune. You can whiten your teeth at home with these kits that come in the form of gels, strips and trays. These whitening kits result in whiter teeth, but some work better than others.

One type of kit for whitening teeth comes with a tray pre-filled with whitening solution. All you have to do is place the trays on the top and bottom teeth for a specified amount of time. The whitening solution brightens and whitens teeth.

Whitening kits can come in the form of a strip. A whitening chemical is applied on the strips and they are placed on the top and bottom teeth. Strips are more comfortable than trays but they may not cover all areas of the teeth, such as the back teeth.

Some kits come with tubes containing whitening gel. The gel is brushed on the teeth and allowed to dry. Once it’s dry, the gel is removed. The gel works best when it dries completely on the teeth. This may be difficult because of saliva in the mouth. Although it is the quickest and possibly the most effective teeth whitening kit, you have to make sure that you reach all areas of the teeth.

Carbamide Peroxide for Teeth Whitening

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Carbamide peroxide is an oxidizing agent derived from hydrogen peroxide and urea. It is used as a corrosive by the dental industry to help whiten teeth. Proper use of carbamide peroxide has been shown to lighten teeth by 22 percent.

While carbamide peroxide is used standardly, it is important to make sure that you are using pharmaceutical grade. Without proof, you may be using a product that contains impurities. As has been shown, many problems can arise from impurities in products of all types. Manufacturers will cut the cost of their products by adding filler agents, but often these agents will make the product less effective. As the carbamide peroxide will be in your mouth for up to 45 minutes per treatment, it is important you aren

3 Popular Teeth Whitening Home Remedies

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

More and more people are looking for teeth whitening methods. Some methods require a lot of money and some people are not willing or can not afford to spend hundreds of dollars to get their teeth whitened professionally. This is why teeth whitening home remedies are popular. They can be used to whiten teeth for very cheap and most of the times, people can find the ingredients needed for some of these remedies right in their home without having to go to the store.

Baking soda is one of the most popular teeth whitening home remedies. This remedy is safe, easy to implement, cheap, and effective. Baking soda works to remove stains from your teeth as it does to remove stains from other household areas and appliances for example. Be careful how much you use this remedy because if you use the baking soda remedy too much for too long, it can damage your enamel.

Another one of the popular teeth whitening home remedies is the Hydrogen Peroxide remedy. This is safe as long as you don’t swallow it as it can be harmful if ingested. This remedy also has its negative side effects such as causing gum sensitivity and erosion of enamel if used too much.

One other popular teeth whitening home remedy worth mentioning is the wood ash remedy. It scrapes off plaque and scrubs your teeth to make them clean. As with any other home remedy, this comes with a minor side effect if used too much. Try not to use this remedy too much as it can also erode your enamel.
